Napa Valley Cheese Boards: Springtime on the Patio at Cosentino
Springtime has arrived here in California Wine Country. Once dormant vineyards are now painted a vibrant green and the weather offers ample opportunities to relax alfresco. One of our all-time favorite spots in the Napa Valley to do just that is at Cosentino Winery, specifically, the patio at Cosentino Winery.
Cosentino Winery is the first stop to Napa Wine Country, located on the historic Saint Helena Highway and a stone’s throw from the world famous wine barrel sign which welcomes all to the Napa Valley. The winery is recognized for producing America’s first designated and licensed meritage wines and is also known for its love for the Lodi Appellation, proudly producing THE Wines series from vineyards in Lodi – one of the leading regions in sustainable viticulture and Wine Enthusiast’s “Wine Region of the Year” in 2015.
Just last year, construction was completed on Cosentino’s gorgeous new patio area. With this updated venue and beautiful weather, we thought there couldn’t be a better time to call up our friends at Cabot Cheese to help us put together a few winning wine and cheese pairings.

After you’ve picked up THE Wines, make a stop at the supermarket and bring home a selection of Cabot Cheeses (check out the store finder to find Cabot products near you). The next step is easy – sit back, relax and give a few of these fabulous wine and cheese pairings a try:
THE Chard has a pretty straw color with toasty notes of graham cracker and lemon meringue. A perfect balance of texture and fresh acidity, with a touch of oak. Fruity flavors of peaches and pear carry through to the vibrant center to a long satisfying finish. Serve chilled; as you let the wine warm to room temperature, it will evolve in the glass.
Pair this wine with Cabot’s Private Stock Cheddar, a cheese that has a tart kick behind a smooth, creamy texture.
Deep crimson in color with sweet and spicy notes of fresh herbs and cloves on the nose. On the palate, intense flavors of fruit with hints of black pepper on the palate. Ends with great structure and long finish.
Cabot’s Vintage Choice Cheddar is extraordinarily robust. It’s aged a minimum of 24 months for an uncommon taste combination of nutty undertones and bold, tart overtones.
THE Rosé is as fresh as the first blush of a new morning. Subtle notes of rose petal open up to strawberry on the nose with a splash of cranberry and pink grapefruit on the palate.
Because we can’t resist pairing a little (or a lot) of spice with Rosé, we recommend Cabot’s Hot Habanero Cheddar with this wine for an adventurous experience.
Bold notes of raspberry and clove follow flavors of cranberry on the palate. Firm tannins meld into a lovely, soft acidity making this a wonderfully balanced Zinfandel.
THE Zin makes a delicious pairing with Cabot’s Garlic & Herb Cheddar, with its sublime balance of herbs, garlic and mild cheddar.
Deep ruby red in color with aromas of black currant, sandalwood and baking spices. THE Cab is showcases structured tannins and layers of evolving flavors.
Try pairing THE Cab with Cabot’s New York Extra Sharp Cheddar, a puckery lactose-free sharp cheddar that is bright and nuanced.
