Corks for Coats – the Results!
Thanks to you, we sent a check for $5,383 to One Warm Coat!
We’re happy to announce that we FINALLY counted all the corks you sent to our Napa Clubhouse and we are thrilled to report that a check for $5,383 has been sent to One Warm Coat, a national organization that provides coats for those in need. That’s one dollar for every cork you sent us!
Says Jennifer Stockard, President of One Warm Coat, “For every dollar donated, two people receive a coat to keep them warm. Through the generosity of the Middle Sister and Wine Sisterhood communities, 10,000 people will put their arms through the sleeves of a warm coat this season.”
Jennifer tells us that all sorts of people have a need for a warm coat, but can’t afford to buy one. These include seniors, the homeless (including many teenage homeless), the working poor and children. One teacher asked for coats for the kids in her classroom who came to school without. They couldn’t go to recess with the other children because it was too cold outside. A driver for seniors asked for coats for his passengers who didn’t have one because their fixed income had to go first to their care facility and medicine.
There are many ways to continue to support One Warm Coat, including organizing a coat drive at your office, neighborhood or church. Visit the One Warm Coat website for a list of resources and ways to help.
We will be working with One Warm Coat again in the fall in preparation for the colder months ahead. Please stay tuned for more about our campaign. Subscribe to our newsletter so you don’t miss the announcement.
